Happy Weekend

One thing I love about GMA is her idea of the long weekend. Not only is it good for tourism, but its also good for friendships. I just spent the entire long weekend at Jigs' fathers place at Fort Bonifacio. We were there for about 30 hours and did not leave the house. There was a billards table in the basement where we slept, a huge TV where we watched two movies High School Musical and Forty Year Old Virgin and the 5th season of Queer As Folk. We laughed, ate, drank wine, smoked, and made fun of each other entire time. Will post pictures as soon as Edsel sends them to me.

That's what Vanity Fair calls Kate Moss as she graces their September cover for the Best Dressed issue. Just like Tom Ford's Hollywood issue which featured Keira Knightely and Scarlett Johansson naked, this is a must-have. Everyone stylish is featured here: Women, Men, Couples, Fashion People, and Hall of Fame(rs).

There's really no stopping this supermodel turned drug-addict turned fashion icon turned drug-addict again and finally turned fashion's comeback queen. She is on the cover of British Vogue this month for the 23rd time and for the 3rd time this year. Who graces the cover of a magazine three times in a year? Who? Well...Oprah does and Kris Aquino!

Unlike the first two covers of Kate this year, the September issue is a very special one. It features eight (8) of her new campaigns. Eight! After the coke scandal, she comes out with 8 campaigns. That is just crazy! I love it!

Here they are:

Dior and Stella McCartney

Versace (with Angela Lindvall, Christy Turlington, Carolyn Murphy, and Daria Werbowy) and Louis Vuitton

Longchamp and Burberry

Belstaff and Rimmel

..and a 9th campaign was released after the September issue came out--she makes a comeback to her very first campaign with Calvin Klein

Adults

Is it just me or do you find that being an adult is really difficult? When we were kids, we wanted to grow up so fast. When we were in highschool, we wanted to be in college so that we have a bit of freedom. In college, we wanted to work so we can make money. But now that we are making money, life seems to be more difficult and more complicated. I feel this enormous pressure to do well (not necessarily make millions) but there are days when I just want to stop...but it isn't an option.

God... I wish I was a trust fund baby.

First Time

I got this three weeks ago. It is my very very first car and although my siblings were against my choice of color, I still went ahead with it--black, no tint.

Rochas Closing

I was having brunch at Breakfast at Antonio's Tagaytay earlier today when Preview Creative Director Vince Uy told me that one of my favorite French brands Rochas is closing. Reports say that the brand is losing money. It's really depressing because the clothes are extremly beautiful and totally feminine that you'd expect women to be wearing this kind of stuff. On top of that, the man behind the designs, Olivier Theyskens, recently won an award as International Designer of the Year. So, why aren't people buying?

P&G who acquired the brand from Wella will discontinue the clothing line, but will continue to produce the Rochas fragance. Here's a photo from the F/W 2006 collection...its last :-(

Great Start

The volleyball season in Assumption has officially begun. We had two weeks of try-outs and I had a total of 26 girls who turned up to make the varsity squad. I was allowed to take in 20 for the team, but I only took the best 18. Apparently when the list came out, some girls broke down in tears. Was I suppose to feel guilty for girls becoming upset? I think not.

We are now on the second week of training season and we are off to a great start. Training is much earlier now (4:00 PM to 6:00 PM) which means I have to leave work around 3:45 PM. I was able to strike a deal with Raymund to let me go earlier on training days provided that I get all my work done. I now come in to the office at 8:00 AM on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays which isn't so bad; I actually like working early cos no one is around and the phone doesn't ring! Gosh, this is dedication and love for this team.

I'm being a very difficult coach this year. I make them do extremely difficult drills and exercises just cos I'm so determined to do well. Last year, I wasn't able to give the girls the attention they needed so I'm making attempts at changing that. I'm hoping for a championship again or a great finish at the very least.

We had our first team bonding last Friday at Fish & Co. Greenbelt 2. All the girls showed up except for two who weren't allowed by their parents. I was very happy with the turn out cos the 1st Year students were getting along with the seniors which rarely happens. After the dinner, the girls left for their own activities. Gosh, I was so paranoid about their safety cos some of these girls are really young and if anything did happen to them, I would never forgive myself. It's the very first time I felt like an adult. But, thankfully, they were all ok.
