Trends

You know you're going on vacation when your work load is more than you can handle.

Richie, Angelo, Xochi, Carlo and I finished our 3rd session of live editing yesterday at 4 am. I could barely get up for work this morning, so I had to resort to Raymund's strong brewed coffee to get me going (I usually take instant...I can hear Chari! I know know...it tastes like card board, but it's still yummy. Plus I have yet to see Cat's face on one of the boxes cos we shot it last year).

So, i'm closing three magazines all at one...ICON, Circuit and Loop. We also have overlapping shoots to get through before 8th of May. Sigh, sometimes I don't know how I do it.

On top of that, there are all these never ending parties, launches, and things to attend. It's Jigs' birthday party on wednesday, the 20th at Bed, which is the same time as Kenji Nunez's party at Government. Then, there's the Zirh launch on friday. The following week is pre party of the year. ICON is launching Maximum Exposure at Government on wednesday along with the pre-party of CircuitAsia and StarCruises. All of these events and work before the big four day party...CircuitAsia.

It's a good thing Elery called me up today to invite me to coach his company's team for volleyball. Our first game is on saturday. Therapy!

After all that, we're off to Singapore. I can't wait...

Change

Yesterday was a strange day for two reasons. I learned something new about myself that I like and I went to an unofficial high school reunion of sorts where I saw people I grew up with. It's funny how things change, but what's more amusing is the fact that things DON'T change. At 16, you can predict the future of your classmates. The smart ones will either work their up way up the upper management ladder, or they'll end up being endocrinologists. The slackers will find themselves in rehab or in another comfort zone--their homes. Everyone else in between will be in media, communications, or PR.

I like where I am...

Top Model

America's Next Top Model Season 3 premiered on Monday at 7:30 PM and I was so psyched. I've been a fan since the second season and I felt the current selection paled compared to the previous season. They chose girls who were ultra skinny (except for one), but a majority didn't have the look. Most of them couldn't move in front of the camera either. It's still too early though and I'm sure they will only get better.

I'm rooting for Yaya.

Jay Manuel, the director of photo shoots for Top Model said that 80% of Yaya's shots could be used. That percentage is high... very high actually. I could compare it to Cedric Sandez who looks good in any angle. I was looking for a photo of Yaya to share, but I was afraid I would find out the eventual winner, and guess what... I did. Bummer! It turns out, however, that Yaya made it to the top two.

The winner wins a contract with Ford Models, a $100,000 campaign with Cover Girl, and a spread in Elle Magazine. Incidentally, we have one Filipina who has a contract with Ford, Verns Buckley.

Another reason why I love watching Top Model...

Dear Lie

Dear Lie
You suck
You said you could fix anything
Instead I'm f**ked
You made things even worse for me
If I had balls I'd tell you get away from me
Guess I'm not smart
I let you unnerve me
I let you control me
Afraid the truth would hurt me
When it's you that hurts me more

Get outta my mouth
Get outta my head
Get outta my mind
Stop puttin' words in my head
Get outta my mouth
You're nothing but trouble
Get outta my life
Get out of me
Out of me (out of me)
Out of me
Out of me lie
Lie lie lie lie

Dear lie
You're dumb
You think you've got the best of me
You think you won
Misread my vulnerability
I've got your walls
Now get the hell away from me
I've learned your art
Won't let you unnerve me
Won't let you control me
The truth will only free me
And your lies won't hurt no
No more

Lie lie
I've got
Your walls
Now get the hell away from me
I learned your art
Won't let you unnerve me
Wont' let you control me
The truth will only free me
And your lies won't hurt no
No more

Lie lie
Dear lie
Lie Lie Lie Lie
Lie Lie
Dear lie

Can you believe it's not butter?

A boss on vacation, post-birthday celebration thoughts, a best-selling book, and lots of free time can alter behavior ever so slightly. Raymund was in Dubai all of this week, ICON's third issue is almost closed, April LOOP and CIRCUIT are in circulation, and the AC girls are on summer vacation...what to do now? That leaves me with lots of time to do things I never do: write long emails, check out the Fall/Winter 2005 collection online, walk in the mall aimlessly, go grocery shopping for more than an hour, attend all the parties, launches, and fashion shows, and lastly, read up on people's lives online. Yes, i've been sucked into the world of blogging and not to mention bejeweled too, both courtesy of Pam. I've always wanted to ramble on and on, but I never really found time to do it, nor did I ever try to make time for it.

I'm reading The Purpose Driven Life (ok girls, I feel those eyebrows raising but hold on a minute) and it's making realize some important things. It's pretty hard core but it's friendly approach is probably the reason why i'm reading on. Anyway, it's giving me reason to take on a different approach to how I live my life, a more relaxed and focused one I guess. Most of you know how tension-filled my life is just like my mouse, but don't get me wrong i'm not going on preachy now. As Xochi said, I'm still taking on a A Fashion Driven Life, and so far, i'm liking both.

When was the last time you did something for the first time? Me? This photo taken by Bunnee during my birthday at Tali tells it all.
